Overview

Habib Girgis School Of Coptic Studies (HGSCS) was established in December 2014 by the support and guidance of Fr. Rewis Rofaiel and H.G. Bishop Mina. The objective of the school is to build a generation of spiritual, knowledgeable and responsible deacons/deaconesses that can lead the services of the church, reach the full extent of enjoying what our church has offered us, and in the future hold the responsibility of teaching the future generations about the beauty of our church. This school is serving side by side with Sunday School, so that Sunday School focuses on biblical and spiritual teachings, and the Deacons School focuses on the tradition and history of our church.

The school offers classes from preschool to Grade 11. The classes teach 5 courses: Hymns, Coptic, Memorization, Rites, and History. Along with the classes, deacons/deaconesses are assigned adequate liturgical services on a weekly schedule, based on their age group. The school is also responsible for deacons ordinations and general deacons’ guidelines.
